10 Principles below are in accordance with the new Privacy Legislation
(PIPEDA) that came into effect on 1st January 2004 for organizations
operating in Ontario, Canada.
It should be pointed out that Anglo-Saxon Ventures
has never sold or compromised customers private
information prior to this legislation taking effect. |
Anglo-Saxon Ventures Code for the Protection
Of Personal Information: 10 Principles
1. Accountability – Anglo-Saxon Ventures is responsible for
personal information under its control and will designate a privacy
officer (the proprietor) who is accountable for the business’
compliance with the principles of the code.
2. Identifying Purposes – The purposes of which personal
information is collected will be identified by Anglo-Saxon Ventures
at or before the time the information is collected.
3. Consent – The knowledge and consent of the customer is
required for the Collection, use and disclosure of personal information,
except in specific circumstances as described within this code.
4. Limiting Collection – The collection of personal information
will be limited to that which is absolutely necessary for the purposes
identified by Anglo-Saxon Ventures. Information will be collected
by fair and lawful means.
5. Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention - Personal information
will not be used or disclosed for purposes other than those for
which it was collected, except with consent of the customer or as
required by law. Personal information will be retained only as long
as necessary for the fulfillment of those purposes.
6. Accuracy - Personal information will be as accurate, complete,
and up-to-date as is necessary for the purposes for which it is
to be used.
7. Safeguards - Personal information will be protected by security
safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
8. Openness - Anglo-Saxon Ventures will make readily available to
customers specific, understandable information about its policies
and practices relating to the management of personal information.
9. Individual Access – Upon request, a customer will be informed
of the existence, use, and disclosure of their personal information,
and will be given access to that information. A customer is entitled
to question the accuracy and completeness of the information and
have it amended as appropriate.
10. Challenging Compliance - Compliance with the above principles
is open to question by customers and those who have a specific interest
with the privacy officer (proprietor) of Anglo-Saxon Ventures. Anglo-Saxon
Ventures will have policies and procedures to respond to those people’s
questions and concerns.
